GARNERS RAVES!

“Into the Dollhouse” is for those with a predilection for theater that wanders out of bounds…You pass through the permeable layer of Wong’s artifice and into her warm imagination. – The Washington Post

[An] intelligent and compelling new performance piece…The revealing peek they offer at some of our most simple, perpetual behaviors is worth the trip through the little front door. - DC Theatre Scene

[T]he best way to truly enjoy this incredible creation is to go to the Flashpoint Mead Theatre Lab and enjoy “Into the Dollhouse” on your own. - Maryland Theatre Guide

Into the Dollhouse is an original devised-movement performance that explores nostalgia and girlhood as it unfolds into the pressuring realities of being female and fully-grown. The piece takes inspiration from Meredith Monk’s Education of the Girl Child, Anna Halprin’s Parades & Changes, selected text from Charles Mee’s Salome, and songs from yesteryear that trigger reminiscing.

Making its world premiere at the Flashpoint Mead Theatre Lab, Into the Dollhouse continues banished? productions‘ signature of using the stage as a canvas on which to immerse audiences in a collaborative hybrid theatre form that uses narrative, movement, text, music and sculpture.
